How to get Photos to and from your iDevice?

It is very easy to transfer photos from your iPhone or other iDevice to your computer and vice versa. Doing this from a pc or mac require a very similar procedure, however in this tutorial, we will focus on how to do it using a PC. There are a two ways to get the photos from the iDevice to your computer and one easy way to get photos from your computer to your iDevice. Regardless of which operating system you decide to use, the first step will always be the same. Get you iDevice and connect it to your computer using the USB cable. It is important to remember to unlock the iDevice by pressing the lock/unlock button on the top right hand side. If you do not do this, then you will find the device on your computer, however, all the content and data will be invisible to you. If you run into this problem just go ahead and unlock the phone, and voila, everything will appear.

The first one we will talk about is using Windows Explorer to manually find the iDevice after your computer has installed it. Once your iDevice is plugged in, you can then open My Computer on your PC. You will be given a few options which will include your hard drive, any USB flash drives plugged in, your cd and virtual drives if you have any and the iDevice. Just double click on the iDevice's icon and find your photos. You can then go through and select the photos you want to copy, then just go ahead and copy and paste them anywhere you want to store them on your PC. This method will treat your iDevice as it would a digital camera which makes it easy to navigate and select the pictures you want, however, if you want to try it another way.

The second method would be to use windows Plug and Play and the popup menu. This is normally considered easier since windows will recognize the device and give you a popup menu with options to import photos, or view content. The import photos option will work the same as it would for a digital camera. You will receive a popup window showing all the available pictures and you will go through and select the ones you want then to import them to your computer. The second option, for viewing content will simply take you to the window we navigated to in the previous method after which you need to select the photos and copy and paste them.

There is one main way which is the easiest and most convenient way to get photos to your computer. This method will work for both Windows PCs and Macs. The following method will use iTunes. Firstly, you will need to go to the folder where all your photos are that you want to sync to your iDevice. You should go ahead and rename them and organize them into subfolders if you want to or just leave them all in one folder. I would suggest doing this because then you can select individual folders to sync instead of having to manually select each photo.

The next step will be to plug in you iDevice and wait for iTunes to recognize it, and then click ion the photos tab. You will select the box that says sync photos from. After you have done this, you need to select choose folder from the drop down menu and navigate to the folder you want to copy photos from (usually my pictures). Go ahead and make a choice from the options presented and press sync. The length of time it takes will depend on how many pohotos you have decided to sync. But when it is done, you will have all your items available in the gallery on your iDevice.
